Keep Mahjing On is always interested in connecting with passionate, outgoing people throughout the Tri-State Area who want to help introduce others to the joy of American Mahjong.

Our instructors are more than Mahjong players—they are community builders, educators, and ambassadors for the game. We are looking for individuals who are patient, reliable, professional, and excited to create welcoming experiences for new and experienced players alike.

Who we’re looking for

  • Strong American Mahjong (NMJL) players

  • Confident speaking and teaching in front of groups

  • Friendly, approachable, and encouraging personalities

  • Dependable and organized professionals

  • Individuals who enjoy meeting new people and building community

  • Those willing to travel locally for lessons and events

  • Weekday evening and occasional weekend availability preferred

What our instructors do

  • Teach private and public Mahjong lessons

  • Facilitate Guided Open Play events

  • Set up and break down Mahjong equipment

  • Represent the Keep Mahjing On brand professionally

  • Create a welcoming, supportive environment for players of all skill levels

  • Help grow the Mahjong community one table at a time

A few things to know

Most of our instructors have backgrounds in education, coaching, customer service, event management, healthcare, or other people-focused professions. While teaching experience is helpful, personality, reliability, and a genuine love of Mahjong are equally important.

Training and mentorship are provided to ensure every instructor delivers the Keep Mahjing On experience consistently and confidently.
