Foundations of American Mahjong
Foundations of American Mahjong at The Bar Method Marlboro is the perfect introduction to the game that's bringing women together around the table.
In this fun, welcoming 2.5-hour workshop led by Keep Mahjing On, you'll learn the fundamentals of American Mahjong from the ground up—no experience required. We'll cover everything from tile recognition and reading the NMJL card to the Charleston, game flow, basic strategy, and table etiquette, all in a relaxed, supportive environment designed for true beginners.
All Mahjong materials are provided, so just bring yourself and a willingness to learn. Whether you're hoping to join friends at the table, start a new hobby, or discover what all the excitement is about, you'll leave with the confidence to continue your Mahjong journey.

Guided Open Play is perfect for players who already know the basics and want to practice, build confidence, and enjoy a fun, welcoming atmosphere. Come with friends or register solo, we'll make sure everyone has a seat at the table. Full Mahjong set-ups are included, and guidance is available throughout the evening.
